Lanzhou delegation visits Dentons Beijing

On May 7, 2018, Chun Xiao, deputy director-general of the Gansu Provincial Public Security Department, deputy mayor of the Lanzhou Municipal People's Government, and director of the Lanzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, and Hailin Ma, director of Lanzhou Municipal Bureau of Justice, along with 7 other delegates, visited Dentons Beijing office for research and exchanges. The delegation was accompanied by Qun Wang, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Justice and Party Committee Secretary of Beijing municipal legal industry, and Li Kai, director of the International Affairs Office in Beijing Lawyers Association. Jun Wang, chair of Dentons Beijing Management Committee, Lihong Wang and Min Zhao, directors of Dentons Beijing Board, Yunfeng Song, member of Dentons Beijing Manangement Committee, and Xin Dai, Secretary-General of Dentons China Region Governance Structures, received the delegation.

The delegation first toured around the office with the company of the representatives from Dentons Beijing office and then started a symposium. During the discussion, the delegation heard Dentons China's domestic development approach for promoting integration, international development concept of "global resources & local wisdom", and specific development initiatives in strengthening specialization and advancing talent management. The delegation gave full recognition for Dentons' integration management model, and high-quality, well-known and professional legal services.

On behalf of the Lanzhou municipal government, Mr. Xiao welcomed Dentons to set up a branch office in Lanzhou. He noted that Lanzhou was eager to tap top-notch talents. As a hub along the Belt and Road, Lanzhou should speed up the study and absorption of advanced management ideas from law firms at home and abroad, and enhance local legal services capabilities, so as to create a legally-friendly business environment for Chinese companies going global.

Mr. Qun Wang stated that Gansu Province is in a prime location of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and Lanzhou is an essential part of the “Belt and Road” initiative, and the starting point of the Hexi Corridor. Lanzhou’s competitiveness has been constantly rising. He encouraged strong law firms in Beijing to share the capital's quality public legal service resources with the western region. Mr. Wang also gave full recognition for Dentons’ meaningful attempts and explorations in the areas of standardization, specialization, branding, internationalization, and integration in recent years. At the same time, he encouraged Dentons to share the rich experience of building and running law offices with the western region, in order to promote the development of legal services in the west.
