On April 9, 2018, Tsinghua University publicly released the "Tsinghua University's Back-up Legal Service Panel Selection Announcement", and Dentons Beijing senior partner Zhang Dong and his team bid for the appointment according to the requirements stated on the announcement and successfully won this bid to become a back-up legal service provider for Tsinghua University. On September 11, a legal service team led by Mr. Zhang, assisted by partner Fu Yong, signed a legal service agreement with Tsinghua University to serve as the 2018-2019 standing legal counsel for Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM).

Tsinghua University is directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and is directly supervised by the central government. It is ranked in Project 211, Project 985, and "World-class University and First-class Discipline", and is selected to participate in "Pilot Plan for Top Students in Basic Disciplines", "Plan for Enhancing Innovation of Higher Education Institutions", and "Talent Introducing Plan for Disciplinary Innovation of Higher Education institutions". It is a member of the C9 League, the Association of University Presidents of China, the Association of East Asian Research Universities, the Asian Universities Alliance, the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, and Tsinghua-Cambridge-MIT Low Carbon Energy University Alliance. It is known as the cradle for "Red Engineers". Tsinghua SEM was established in 1984. Professor Zhu Rongji was the founding dean. After more than 30 years of development, the school has become one of the best business schools in China and even in Asia. Currently, it has 7 departments, including Accounting, Economics, Finance, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy, Leadership and Organization Management, Management Science and Engineering, and Marketing. It has doctoral programs in four first-level disciplines, including Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, Theoretical Economics, and Applied Economics. Three disciplines, Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration, and Quantitative Economics, are national key disciplines. The office of the China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee is also located at Tsinghua SEM. The school is also the first school on the Chinese mainland to attain both AACSB and EQUIS accreditations. The mission of the school is to advance knowledge and cultivate leaders for China and the world. "High-end positioning, strong teachers and internationalization" are important features of Tsinghua SEM.
